Official figures for the county council area, so you can see how crowded the field is.
ONS UK Business Counts 2026 (via Nomis) lists 59,420 VAT and/or PAYE registered enterprises in the Hampshire county council area. Of those, 52,295 (88.0%) have fewer than ten employees. Portsmouth and Southampton are separate councils and are not in that figure: Portsmouth has 6,095 and Southampton 7,285. Very small unregistered sole traders are not counted either.

Our view, from those figures only: professional services and construction are the two largest groups, so a business in either is likely to share its search results with a lot of neighbours. We would start there when planning which searches to work on first.

No map pack, an AI answer
When we looked, there was no local pack for the county phrase and Google showed an AI Overview above the organic results. Our 29 August 2026 capture also had no local pack, but no AI Overview.
Nine organic results
Six were agency pages (five service or location pages and one FAQ page), two were directory or list pages and one was a jobs board listing. Brambla was not among them.
Towns in the web addresses
Three of the nine addresses named a Hampshire town: Basingstoke, Aldershot and Eastleigh. When we checked the top three in August 2026, none listed a price.
Our view: a county phrase with agency pages, list pages and a jobs board on it is a crowded contest, so we would not promise movement on it. A page for the town where your customers are is the more realistic first step.
One County, Four Economies
Winchester, the harbours, the M3 corridor and the New Forest do not behave alike, and the searches do not either.
We work the SO, PO, RG and GU postcodes across Hampshire: Winchester and its professional services; Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham and Havant along the harbours; Basingstoke, Aldershot and Farnborough on the M3 and Surrey side; Andover, Romsey, Eastleigh and the New Forest in between. Southampton has a page of its own because the city search behaves differently. A Winchester solicitor, a Portsmouth marine trade and a Basingstoke software firm are chasing three different sets of results, so we would rather build a page for each place that genuinely sends you enquiries.

By the ONS figures, professional, scientific and technical firms are the largest group at about 10,335 enterprises (17.4%), with construction close behind at about 9,855 (16.6%). Wholesale, retail and motor vehicle repair is third at about 8,170 (13.7%). ONS rounds each count to the nearest 5. Our view is that these two largest groups are where searches are most likely to be shared with many neighbours.
What did Google show when you searched "seo hampshire"?
On 4 October 2026 our desktop UK capture showed no local pack and an AI Overview above nine organic results. Five were agency service or location pages, one was an agency FAQ page, two were directory or list pages and one was a jobs board listing. Brambla was not among them. Do the Portsmouth and Southampton figures count towards Hampshire?
No. Hampshire County Council covers neither city, and the ONS count we quote is for the county area only. Portsmouth is listed separately at 6,095 enterprises and Southampton at 7,285. Southampton also has its own Brambla page, because a city search is a different contest from a county one.
Is a county page or a town page the better target?
In our 4 October capture, three of the nine organic results had a Hampshire town in the web address: Basingstoke, Aldershot and Eastleigh. Three of nine is not proof, but our view is that a page built around one town is a realistic way in. If most of your customers are in one town, start by planning pages and a Google Business Profile around that town, then widen out.
