A summary that names names
Above the ordinary results sat an AI Overview explaining what local SEO in Dorset involves, listing towns from Bournemouth and Poole to Dorchester and Weymouth, naming three specific agencies as options, and then asking the searcher what industry they were in before narrowing further. Google is running the shortlist. There were no map results at all.
What that changes about the work
A summary quotes pages that answer plainly. Slogans, stock phrases and pages that circle the question for four paragraphs do not get quoted. For comparison: we fetched the three pages ranking at the top for SEO in Dorset on 29 August 2026, and no standalone SEO price appeared among them. In practice, Dorset SEO is being written by the conurbation. If you trade in Weymouth, Bridport or Sherborne, most of the county pages you will read were not written with you in mind. That is the gap this page exists to close.
And we are in Devon, not Dorset
Northlew, in west Devon — the next county along, though at the far end of it. There is no Dorset office and no local number. Nothing was being handed out on the basis of a Dorset address on that search anyway, since there were no map results at all.
