How this page was made
We research and draft our pages with AI tools, including Anthropic's Claude. A person at Brambla then reviews and edits every page before it goes live. How we use AI
Brambla is an SEO agency working with Bristol businesses, based in Northlew in west Devon. SEO Care is our ongoing search service at £95, £175 or £295 a month, VAT-inclusive, with no setup fee and no minimum term.
Bristol is a competitive search market with established agencies, so this page is specific about the numbers and about what we can and cannot do here. If you need the website itself as well as the search work, that is on web design Bristol.
Bristol in Numbers: Who Your Customers Can Choose Instead
Official counts for the Bristol City council area only.
From the ONS UK Business Counts 2026 (published through Nomis), covering VAT and/or PAYE registered enterprises. Very small unregistered sole traders are not in the count. ONS rounds each figure to the nearest five. The area is Bristol City: South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, which share the BS postcodes, are not included.
- 18,295 registered enterprises, of which 15,875 (86.8%) employ fewer than ten people.
- Professional, scientific and technical firms are the largest group, at about 3,310 enterprises (18.1%).
- Wholesale, retail and motor trades come next at about 2,250 (12.3%), then construction at about 2,165 (11.8%).
- Information and communication is fourth at about 1,865 (10.2%), then administrative and support services at about 1,480 (8.1%).
Our view: professional and technical firms are the largest group by some way, so a Bristol consultancy, practice or studio is usually one of many that a customer can compare. We would look first at the searches for the specific service you sell, in the part of the city you serve, rather than the city-wide term.
What a Search for "SEO Bristol" Showed on 4 October 2026
One desktop look at Google UK, written down as it was.
Google showed a local map pack of three businesses (seobristolcompany.co.uk, seobristol.online and bristechtonic.co.uk) and an AI Overview. There were no paid ads above the results, and Google gave a result count of 100.
We could read nine organic results. Three were agency homepages, four were agency service or location pages, and two were list pages: a Clutch directory of Bristol SEO firms and a Webtonic blog post on the best Bristol SEO agencies. Two of the three map pack businesses also held the top two organic spots. Brambla was not in the top nine. This is one capture rather than a ranking check, and results differ by location and by day.
How much does SEO cost in Bristol?
SEO Care is £95 (The Essential), £175 (The Growth Partner) or £295 (The Elite Performance) a month, VAT-inclusive, with no setup fee and no minimum term. Upgrade or cancel any time. Google Business Page Setup & Verify is a £95 one-off add-on, separate from SEO Care. What each tier includes is on the SEO Care page.
For comparison: when we fetched the three top-ranking pages for SEO in Bristol on 29 August 2026, Bristechtonic published a figure, stating that every one of its SEO packages includes the AEO layer, from £299 a month. COOLBISON and SEO Bristol Company published none. We are not claiming to be better than any of them; you can see what we charge before you speak to us.
The City and the Ring of Towns Around It
Bristol trades well past its own boundary, and the searches follow.
We work the BS postcodes across the city — Clifton, Redland, Bishopston, Bedminster, Southville, St George and the centre — plus the towns that trade with it: Portishead, Clevedon, Nailsea, Keynsham, Thornbury, Yate and Weston-super-Mare. Half an hour east, Bath has a page of its own, and North Somerset and the county beyond sit on SEO Somerset. Clifton, Bedminster, Bishopston and the centre behave like separate markets, and the towns outside behave like separate markets again, so we would rather write a page for each than one that hedges across all of them.
We Are in Devon, Not Bristol
Two hours down the M5 — here is exactly what that means for you.
There is no Bristol office
Our studio is in Northlew in west Devon. Bristol is a straightforward drive up the A30 and M5, so a meeting is a morning rather than an expedition, but it is not an office in the city and we are not going to write it up as one. If a Bristol address is what matters to you, the city has plenty of agencies that have one. What we offer instead is published prices, a monthly written report, and a team that can change the website itself.
The map pack is real here, and it is theirs
Unlike the county searches we cover elsewhere, Bristol has a proper three-business local pack. When we captured it on 29 August 2026 and again on 4 October, two of the three pack businesses also held organic top-three positions, though the names in the pack changed between the two dates. Those map slots go to businesses with a verified Bristol address, which is how they are meant to work, and we do not compete for them. Your own address still decides your map results. Ours does not.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does SEO cost in Bristol?
At Brambla, SEO Care is £95, £175 or £295 a month, VAT-inclusive, with no setup fee and no minimum term. One of the three pages ranking at the top for SEO in Bristol on 29 August 2026 did publish a figure: Bristechtonic, whose copy states that every one of its SEO packages includes the AEO layer, from £299 a month. The other two published nothing. What each of our tiers includes is on the SEO Care page.
How many businesses are there in Bristol to compete with?
At Brambla, the ONS UK Business Counts 2026 (published through Nomis) list 18,295 VAT and/or PAYE registered enterprises in Bristol City, and 15,875 of them (86.8%) employ fewer than ten people. Unregistered sole traders are not counted, so the real number of businesses is higher. The figure covers Bristol City only, not South Gloucestershire or North Somerset, and ONS rounds each figure to the nearest five.
Which kinds of Bristol business are most numerous?
At Brambla, by the same ONS 2026 count, professional, scientific and technical firms are the largest group in Bristol City at about 3,310 enterprises (18.1%). Wholesale, retail and motor trades follow at about 2,250 (12.3%) and construction at about 2,165 (11.8%). Information and communication (about 1,865) and administrative and support services (about 1,480) complete the top five. These are registered enterprises, not search volumes, so they show how crowded a trade is rather than how many people search for it.
What did Google show for "seo bristol" when you looked?
At Brambla, on 4 October 2026 a desktop search on Google UK showed a local pack of three businesses, an AI Overview and no paid ads. Of the nine organic results we could read, three were agency homepages, four were agency service or location pages and two were list pages, a Clutch directory and a Webtonic blog post. Brambla was not among them. It was one capture, and results vary by location and by day, so treat it as a snapshot rather than a ranking.
How competitive is SEO in Bristol?
At Brambla, the results suggest an established market. The 4 October 2026 search for "seo bristol" had a three-business map pack, and two of those three businesses also held the top two organic spots, so the same names appear twice. When we captured the search on 29 August 2026 two of the three pack businesses also held organic top-three positions, though the pack names were not the same. That is why, in our view, the first move for most businesses is narrower ground than the city term.
Where would you start for a Bristol professional firm?
At Brambla, this is our view rather than a promise. Professional, scientific and technical firms are the largest group of registered enterprises in Bristol City, so a customer comparing consultancies, practices or studios has many to choose from. We would start with the Google Business Profile, then a page for each service you sell, and a page for the part of the city you serve if it is a distinct market, such as Clifton or Bedminster.
Do I need a Bristol-based SEO agency?
At Brambla, our honest answer is no, but you should know where we actually are. Our studio is in Northlew in west Devon, which is a straightforward run up the A30 and M5 but is not Bristol, and we have no office in the city. The three map results on that search go to businesses with a verified Bristol address, exactly as they are meant to, and we do not compete for them. What we compete on is published prices, a monthly written report, and the fact that the people doing the SEO can also change the website.
Can you get my business into the Bristol map pack?
At Brambla, we can do the work that makes it possible and nobody can do more than that. Map results are decided by your business location, the state and activity of your Google Business Profile, your reviews, and how consistently your details appear across the web. Keeping your profile up to date is part of SEO Care. What we cannot do is move your pin, and we will not sell you a package that quietly implies otherwise. If your address sits well outside the city, we will tell you that a Bristol map result is unlikely.
Do you cover the BS postcodes and the towns around the city?
At Brambla, yes: the BS postcodes across the city and the ring of towns that trade with it. That means Clifton, Redland, Bishopston, Bedminster, Southville and the centre, plus Portishead, Clevedon, Nailsea, Keynsham, Thornbury and Yate, and Weston-super-Mare down the coast. Bath sits half an hour east and has a page of its own. The ONS figures on this page cover Bristol City only, so most of those towns are outside that count.
